Hillary is really showing her stripes as a socialist now that she’s on the presidential campaign trail. While the residents of New York may be used to quasi-socialism and okay with it (for now), the rest of the nation (except, probably, California) will see “Hillary-care” for what it is: buying your votes with your own tax dollars:

Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC’s “This Week,” she said: “I think there are a number of mechanisms” that are possible, including “going after people’s wages, automatic enrollment.”

In a word: Socialism. Hillary’s jack-booted thug government will force healthcare on everyone.

Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms.

Ahem. Where did my freedom go, Ms. Clinton? Where did my liberty to choose between having health insurance and not having health insurance go? Who are you to decide that I want healthcare? What if my religion doesn’t believe in hospitals? (As some don’t.) What if I’m rich enough to pay — and prefer to pay — cash out-of-pocket rather than deal with an HMO?

With her proposals for subsidies, she said, “it will be affordable for everyone.”

And how does Hillary propose to pay for these subsidies? Oh, that’s right: you’ll raise my taxes.

And what about monitoring and enforcing this garnishment? Since there’s no existing government entity set up to do this work, one will have to be created. Let’s add 10,000 new federal government employees to the payroll, build them a new $250 million dollar building, buy them all computers, install phones and internet access to the building, give them government cars and spending accounts so they can travel to the 50 branch offices (1 per state!) which each have 100 employees (who all need computers, phones, cars, and spending accounts), and put a bunch of new federal regulation in place that will just add to the morass of government red tape. Brilliant.

This idea is affordable for whom, exactly? Do the math, Hillary. It will easily cost the US taxpayers $1 billion on payroll alone to fund this new government agency. And to pay for the mere establishment and existence of this new entity you’re going to get the money from where? Oh, that’s right: the taxpayers’ wallets. “Free” healthcare indeed.

I suppose this is yet another example of one of Hillary’s “million ideas that America can’t afford.” We can’t afford them, Hillary, and we certainly can’t afford you.
