As world leaders gather in Copenhagen for the climate summit, they try to scare us by telling us that if we don’t act soon, we’re all going to die from the effects of “global warming”, er “global climate change.” (We almost forgot that they are expunging all traces of the phrase “global warming” and replacing it with “global climate change” in an effort to change the conversation, since the earth isn’t warming.)

Now the “we know better than you do” elites are gathering in Copenhagen. This gathering required 1200 limos and 140 private planes, including Al Gore’s private plane. (Just wondering: what is the “carbon footprint” of this gathering, anyway? If these people were so concerned with the environment, wouldn’t they have figured out a way of videoconferencing using the internet that Al Gore claims to have invented, thus saving all those carbon emissions?)

But we digress.

So while the elites are gathering, let’s peruse the weather-related headlines:

Ironic? Divine sense of humor? We think both.

Then there’s the whole “ClimateGate” scandal, where someone hacked the computers of people “researching” the climate. The data from those hacked computers was posted online on the internet for the whole world to see, and as it turns out, the scientists were fudging their data. Even Al Gore has been caught fudging the things he purports as fact. When questioned by a journalist, what were the scientists’ response? Have security escort the reporter out of the press briefing. When Al Gore is questioned by a reporter, here is his reaction:

Copenhagen and the whole global warming “climate change” lie is simply a matter of “elites” and “experts” wanting the power to tell us how to live. Here are some of their recommendations, which would likely become law if they get their way:

Control is the name of the game. How do we know this? Because the Obama administration-controlled Environmental Protection Agency¬†declared CO2 a Pollutant. This means that the EPA can regulate CO2 emissions under the Clean Air Act. Without Congress passing a law, without the Senate ratifying a treaty, the Obama administration simply executed a massive power grab. How massive? Let’s think about it for a second.

Every living being exhales CO2. That means that you, by simply being alive,¬†are a polluter. If you have a child, you are creating a new polluter. If you have a pet, they are a polluter. And what other CO2-emitting activities might you engage in? Forget about driving or flying…. do you eat meat or cheese, or drink milk? Cows are polluters, too. Do you drink carbonated beverages like Coke or Pepsi? CO2 is what gives them their fizz, you know. What about alcoholic beverages? Do you drink them? After all, to produce alcohol, you need yeast, and in making alcohol, yeast produces CO2. Oh yes, speaking of yeast, other things that need yeast — like bread — are also generating CO2. Do you have a compost pile? The bacteria that turns banana peels into compost, they make CO2.

Further, think of the world’s largest producer of food: the United States. Our farmers will be crippled by any CO2-regulating legislation.

If the government calls CO2 a pollutant, they can regulate and tax any and all activities that produce it without passing a single law.

So while Congress is bickering back and forth about socialized healthcare, and while most of America is focused on healthcare, the Obama administration simply walked all over their Constitutional rights and responsibilities. Who saw this coming? Oh yes, that’s right: we did. Six months ago.

Where is this going? Imagine a world where you have to apply for the privilege to have one child. Where you have to apply for the privilege to have a pet, and you have to be able to afford a tax on it. Where only the rich can afford a beer because the carbon taxes are too high. Where you have a weekly government-enforced limit on the amount of meat, cheese, milk, and bread you are allowed to consume, and you have to pay a stiff tax on that which you do. Imagine a world where the government controls how much food is produced and who it goes to.

Some people don’t understand history. Some people think that government helps people and would never hurt people. Some people say “you’re crazy, government would never do these things”.

I wouldn’t hold my breath.
