It’s an old phrase, dating back to World War I and the days of trench warfare. When both sides were dug in, they would lay out barbed wire and mines in front of their trenches. The enemy would send out probing parties to determine soft spots in defenses and gather intelligence on what the responses were (and how long they would take) to various types of attempts to breach the wire.
The phrase has stuck through World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm, though it’s fallen out of popularity with the more recent actions in Iraq and Afghanistan and the changing face of modern warfare. But make no mistake about it: the United States is having its wire probed.
Take a look at these recent headlines:
- Sabotage caused phone outage in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz counties
- Russia test-fires intercontinental missile
- North Korea Fires Missile over Japan
- Report: Cuba, Venezuela could host Russian bombers
- Russian planes again fly over U.S. Navy ships
- Chinese vessels harass U.S. Navy ship
- CIA: Hackers have already attacked the electric grid
- Pirates take US ship with 20 Americans aboard
These acts, dear readers, are all efforts by our enemies to “probe our wire” and test the new administration. It is obvious that the leaders of other countries don’t think much of the Obama administration. You don’t have to read between the lines, because they come right out and say it:
- Barack Obama: President Pantywaist – new surrender monkey on the block
- Medvedev announces plan to rearm Russia
- Iran says Obama’s offer to talk shows US failure
- India warns Obama over Kashmir
- Russian President Won’t “Haggle” Over US Missile Defense Plans
- Russia confirms Iran missile contract
- Iran says running 7,000 enrichment centrifuges
- China’s Hu urges staunch defence days after U.S. spat
And how is the Obama administration responding?
- Hillary on N Korea: Strong UN position would be first step
- Obama declines comment on US hostage crisis off Somalia
- FBI joins effort in hostage standoff with pirates
- Gates readies big cuts in weapons
- President Obama to Europe: Sorry About the Bush Years
- Obama will use spring summit to bring Cuba in from the cold
- Obama courts socialites
Is this the message we want to be sending to our enemies? Really? We’re telling them that they can hack our power grid, capture our ships, intimidate our navy, and test-fire their missiles, and we’ll send some FBI negotiators and go complain to the U.N. With foreign policy like this, the United States is in for a long and bumpy four years, and it may take two or three decades to un-do the damage this administration has already done, let alone the damage it will do in the next 3 1/2 years. We’ve gone from “peace through strength” to “let’s draft a sternly-written letter”.
From Ronald Reagan:
To Monty Python:
It took Jimmy Carter’s incompetent foreign policy to bring us the success and strength of Ronald Reagan. Sadly, it will take 4 years of Barack Obama’s incompetent foreign policy to bring the United States another strong leader who is willing to call a spade a spade, who is willing to look evil in the eye and not flinch, and who is willing to do the right thing, even if it is not the popular thing.
We have made it our mission here at FiveBoxes to inform you, the reader, about threats to your liberties. We have done our best to withhold stories that are too slanted and hold back stories until enough information is gathered to make a reasoned, informed article. The past three to four weeks have seen such an avalanche of pure idiocy, we’ve been having trouble keeping up and making sense of it all.
Our information gathering casts a wide net in an effort to read as much data as possible, and try to figure out how the pieces fit together, and what it all means. After sifting through the mountains of data, we have the following analysis:
As the old saying goes, “Where are we going, and why are we in this handbasket?”
Our analysis is that the government of United States, at almost all levels, is not only corrupt, but working towards a bi-partisan goal of bringing socialism to the United States.
In what should come to no surprise to longtime readers of this website, we believe that President-elect Barack Obama is a strong believer in socialist principles. Whether it’s “spreading the wealth“, extolling the virtues of the government having a strong hand in the distribution of wealth, or authoring a bill that would have taxed the United States’ Gross National Product by $845 billion over 13-years under the pretense of “eradicating global poverty”… Barack Obama in his own words described himself as a socialist. (And sadly, many students here in the United States seem very happy about that.) But one person can’t enact this radical change by themselves; there has to be more than one person involved.
So how are the socialist forces aligning against freedom? Against liberty? Against the principles that founded this great nation? Let’s take a look at the evidence: (more…)
They are not paying attention.
As this story reports, an Iranian ship was loaded with radioactive sand, and headed toward Israel via the Suez Canal. It was, in essence, a giant floating dirty bomb. The plan was for an explosion would carry the radioactive particles high into the atmosphere and blanket Israel during Yom Kippur. The U.S. government, for reasons unknown, is burying the story, as is the majority of the news media. Aside from Pat Dollard’s site, the only other non-blog news site that we could find that mentioned it is Israel National News.
If such a situation were to happen on the west coast of America, the prevailing winds would carry radioactive particles for hundreds of miles, irradiating the western third to half of the United States and parts of Mexico and Canada. Our western seaboard and ports would be shut down, and everything grown in that area would be inedible.
And it would be just the kind of food crisis that would be needed to shove us from the doorstep of socialism, all the way through the door.
